snow angel
we got ~10 inches of snow yesterday so we thought it was a great opportunity to make a snow angel with haley! she didn't really have a reaction to lying in the snow, but we thought it was cute. since she's so light, it's kind of hard to see the outline of the little angel in these pics, but it is there.
there is a video at the very bottom of the angel making. ;-)

i rolled over today!!! (Jan 26, 2011)
haley rolled over today - first from her tummy to the left, then from her tummy to the right. she was so quick a few times that i barely recorded it.
sophie & other toys
since haley has been putting everything in her mouth and chomping on some of her toys (and my fingers!), i used some of her christmas money to buy a giraffe teether called 'sophie'. it's great because she can put the ears, mouth or legs in her mouth, depending on how far back she wants to go. like her other toys, it's taken her a few days to warm up to, but she really goes to town on it now.
she also got a baseball rattle from trey's former college roommate & baseball teammate, joe. she likes the little handle on it and enjoys chewing on it.

holding the blankie from grandma. she's not as into it as tyler is into his, but maybe once she's older ;-) |
i didn't realize when i took this pic that she has 2 of sophie's legs in her mouth! |
just chillin on my side, grabbing my foot |
smiling at mommy! |
haley & connor's play date!
haley and i went to a former coworker's house for a play date on tuesday. she has a son, connor, who is 2 weeks older than haley. their interaction was really cute -- they smiled at each other and sort of touched hands when we first introduced them. then, we put them on connor's play mat, side by side, and they played. a few times they held hands or just touched the other one's arms. and once, they both had a grip on haley's purple ball. it was really sweet. connor's mom, chui mei, took a few pics of them together.

singing
haley has been thoroughly entertained by her feet lately -- she will just play with them for 5 minutes without complaining one bit. i caught her singing while playing with her feet, but missed getting it on video. however, i did get some videos of her singing / talking, just not while playing with her feet.
a few video clips:
what is this thing?? |
i can grab both feet on my own now! see how chunky my thighs are getting? |
tummy time
haley has gotten much better at tummy time...here are a few pics.
she's wearing her rattle bracelets in a few of the pics (a cool gift from our neighbor)

johnny jumperoo & high chair pics
she loves sticking her tongue thru holes in the ball |
unfortunately the only door with a frame to connect the jumperoo in our main level is the bathroom! |
we have to stuff the seat with 5 burp cloths in order for her to be secure....2 on each side & one in the front |
here is another high chair pic..

haley found her feet
when we were in texas, we started to show haley her feet - we'd put them in her hands during diaper changes so she could feel her toes, and recognize that they are connected to her body. she didn't seem too interested, but we've been doing it since we got back here. and, the last 2 days she really has seemed to realize they are there and tries to grab them at every diaper change! when she is lying down, she'll kick her legs up and just stare at the feet and grab her little thighs to bring her toes closer to her face. it's really cute! i got a few pics, but i'm sure there are more to come when she inevitably puts them in her mouth!

coming back to VA has been an adjustment
being with family & friends so long was great, but after being in texas for a month, miss haley had a hard time getting used to just the 3 of us in VA! let's just say she was SPOILED by all the attention she got! ;-)
first off, she did not enjoy the flight home as much as she enjoyed the flight to houston. luckily trey was with me so he could help when she was screaming. as our neighbor stated, she was "that kid"....as in "shut that kid up" ! lol...she did sleep some on the plane, but was pretty fussy for a lot of the flight, regardless of what we did to try to appease her. we were delayed so that didn't help either....
and much like when we flew to houston, she was jet lagged after the flight back to DC. so, the first week back home was really a struggle to get her to go to take any sort of nap, or go to bed at night. fortunately, once she did go to sleep at night, she slept pretty well, but getting her down was the hard part (not till midnight the first 2 nights!). and she was so restless during the day - like she didn't want to sleep for fear of missing something...and it was sort of like she was scared to be alone. if we left her side for 2 seconds she screamed. and, to top it off, i was fighting a cold, and my milk supply plummeted from the cough drops, so that was stressful for both of us too. it was a pretty rough week, needless to say.
we are still working to get her to take a good nap during the day, as well as to play independently a little. things have gotten slightly better, but she's still extremely demanding. it's a good thing i'm still on family leave because i would be a zombie if i had to go to work now!
