haley loves chewing / sucking on wet washrags!  i read that it is soothing for their teeth, so i suppose that's why she does it.  it's pretty funny, tho, because she does it while playing.

haley's new shoes

haley got a BIG package in the mail from aunt kerrie, which included 2 pairs of shoes.  so, we tried them on yesterday and got some pics.  it was the first time she's worn shoes, so a little awkward for her.  in the end, i think she was most interested in tasting them!

Hicks Visit to DC

Lorie, Rodney & Tyler came to visit us for a few days before I returned to work.  It was Tyler's first time to fly in a 'big airplane' and he was so excited !!  He got wings just like the captain too. ;-) 

The weather was dreary - rainy, cloudy, and cool, so we limited our activities to one big thing per day.  We went to the big Air & Space Museum where Tyler got to see alllllllllll kinds of big planes, and then we went to a big park.  Lorie took pics at the air & space museum, so I can't post any of those.  But, I got a lot at the park. 

Tyler pretty much did his own thing, but he did interact with Haley some. He was a very good helper for her, and did manage to sit still for a few pictures.  Rodney was under the weathe, so did not hold Haley until the last day.  Tyler was sure to let everyone know that "that's my daddy" when he was holding her.  lol...Haley LOVED Lorie, so she got her baby time in without any issues.  We were thrilled that Haley did so well during their visit, since she's has a fear of strangers lately.

one of trey's colleagues brought in a king cake and a little mask for haley to celebrate fat tuesday.  surprisingly, she didn't cry when trey put it on, but she did look a little cross eyed for a few minutes.  ;-)

sitting up!

haley has been sitting up on her own for a few seconds for about the last 2 weeks.  we've been practicing a lot and lately she's gotten very good - sometimes staying up for almost 2 minutes!  here are a few pics & videos.  she's very chatty in one of the videos, so be sure to have your volume on.

i realized that i have not posted any pictures in a few weeks!  i guess my only excuse is that i found out about my next assignment at work, which has made reality sink in that time off is quickly running out.  so, i have kicked my butt into gear with working out  & reading materials when haley is napping, vs. blogging like i used to!  ;-)  we've also been running errands.  boy, i'm going to miss shopping when everyone else is at work!!!  it's nice to not have crowds and long lines!

haley is getting pretty good at eating.  she does best when the cereal is a little thick.  it's funny, she often makes a noise when she takes a bite - it sounds like 'mmmm'.  hahaha.  we have tried the rice cereal, sweet potatoes, and peaches.  she hated the sweet potatoes and got a little stuffy, so i stopped giving her those after 3 days, just in case there is a slight allergy.  she didn't like the peaches at first either, but after 6 days, i'm still giving them to help her p00p.  she has surprised me with wanting to keep eat them the last 2 days.  i guess the taste is growing on her. 

i introduced formula 2 days ago to prepare for daycare.  i have a ton of frozen milk, but decided to give her some formula & some milk each day when i go back to work, so that the milk will last longer.  she definitely knows the taste is different, but has done really well with the 2 bottles she's had so far.  i'm giving it to her in the mornings for now, but plan to move it later in the day to see if it will help her sleep.  she's still getting up 1 or 2 times per night, despite the solids.  she ate a LOT of cereal this evening, so we will see how the night goes.

she did roll from back to front on Feb 19, but has not done it since.  and, she has not rolled from front to back in an even longer time!  guess that's good for me.  ;-)

oh, and she's getting really good at sitting up by herself on the floor for a few seconds.  i don't have any pics yet, but will try to get some.
