halloween parade - little ladybug

on friday, the daycare held a halloween parade.  they dressed all the kids up in costumes and walked around the building 3 times, then all gathered togeter in the back and the older ones sang songs.  haley was excited to see us, and to our surprise, she went back with the teachers after seeing us to continue in the parade.  it was sooo adorable. haley's wings didn't stick very well with the velcro, so they were never really open. and i think they affected her balance because she kept falling over (could have been the uneven surface too!)

here are some pics of haley & her class mates  + some of the older kids.

this is the outside of the daycare. her room is in the left building

@13 months old

haley continues to grow and try new things!  she is now 13 months old and since my last update here's what's new:

she has really gotten into reading.  she will get a book and hand it to me or trey, then turn around and scoot her little bootie on our lap.  it's so cute!  but, sometimes we can only get to the first page before she gets up again and get another book.   we have some slide out word cards, which she loves to show us.

she knows where her nose, eyes, teeth, tongue, head, and toes are.  she can relate objects with words and seems to understand what we say for the most part.  she knows 'arms up', 'sit down', 'put it back', etc.

she loves putting lids on things - opening and closing things

she want to eat everything -- especially everything that her daddy eats (including sucking on jerky!!)  she's like a little dog when she sees someone with food!

trey taught her to stick her tongue in and out like a lizard, and i taught her to put some sound to it.  i caught it on video, so you can check it out below.

she has not talked yet, but she says 'ha' when she waves, so we think she's associating hi with waving.
she can shake her head no for communication, but not yes so far!

we started doing a 'bye bye passie' ritual.  after she gets up from bed, she usually grabs as many passies as she can to take with her for the diaper change.  when we finish changing the diaper, we go back to the crib, and she will drop the passies in the crib and wave goodbye.  she even sort of says 'bye bye'

ever since aunt kerrie showed her how to tumble over, she has loved doing it. she will stick her head on the ground, butt up until we flip her over.   i got a short video clip of it as well.  one time, she did it 5 times in a row!

on the bumps and bruises side, she got bit on her back a few weeks ago at daycare, which left a bruise the size of a dime.  she fell at our house last weekend and hit a portable heater right above her ear which left a bruise, and also fell down in the store today and cut her lip a little bit.  luckily they had a snack bar so we got her to suck on some ice in a wash rag.  but, she was fine a few minutes later and i don't see a mark.

we went to the capitol for some 1 year pics, went to a farm to get a pumpkin a few weeks ago, and the daycare held a halloween parade on friday.  i will put those pics on separate blog entries.

thanks for the birthday money!

Thanks to everyone for Haley's birthday presents!  Besides the items shown on her birthday blog entry, she got some cold hard cash from Grandma & Pepaw, Great Aunt Susan, Aunt Loie,  Uncle Rodney & Tyler, and Deanna, Ronnie, Valori, and Evan Wilson.  We took her to toys r us today and she was in heaven!  She could not touch enough things, and forget about us trying to hold her while we were walking around!

So, we got a few things with part of the money today and will get some other things with the rest of it in the near future.  We got:  a leap frog toy to teach her letters and sounds, a turtle with holes in the shell to put in various shapes (square, circle, heart, star, etc) and a blow up red bouncing hourse, similar to Tyler's Rody.

So, thanks again for the loot!  She will have fun playing with her new toys & future toys from the money!
