we introducted oatmeal cereal today and haley is not a fan!  i don't think she even got one spoon down!

first time in an outdoor swing

today was pretty, so we took haley to a nearby park to try out a real swing for the first time. 
she really didn't react much to swinging - a few smiles, but mostly just "chilled" in the swing.  there were 2 kids riding bicycles & hot wheels, so that was the most entertaining part of her!

first tooth

update 4/26- i got a good pic of her tooth, and #2 is right next to it!

haley's first tooth broke through her gums around april 16, and i've been trying to get a picture of it.  her being sick made getting a pic quite difficult, and i still don't have a great one.... but maybe you can see it in these pics.

can't see anythig but drool here, but this pic cracks me up!  she's like "what the heck are you trying to do!??"

easter / birthday pics

there's a gorgeous blooming tree near our house, so we took a few pics before we went out to celebrate my birthday/easter.

haley racked up on easter loot even though she's not old enough to go egg hunting!  thanks to everyone for sending her gifts - she was feeling better enough to play with her toys!

it's been a long two weeks !

so a few days after haley started daycare full time, and right when i started work (april 6),  haley got her first cold.  first time to be sick, actually.  she started running a fever between 100-101 days 7-11, and ate very little starting on day 8.  well, on night 11, her temp spiked to 102.  i was heading out for a business trip early that next morning, so trey took her to the doctor and was told that it was likely a sinus infection. so, he filled the prescription for an antibiotic and gave her the first dose. she then took a short nap, woke up and threw up ~4 times within 15 minutes. turns out that she was dehydrated from not eating much the prior 3 days, so when she threw up, it put her over the edge.  she became unresponsive so trey called 911; she rode in the ambulance & they monitored her in the hospital & gave her fluids thru an IV.  i'm at a workshop in paulsboro NJ, so made arrangements to get back home ASAP.  all the x-rays and major tests came back negative, so no major worries. but she was dehydrated and did have elevated white blood cell counts indicating an infection.

 

they didn't think it was an allergic reaction to the meds, so i gave her another does tues morning. well, she threw up two more times on tuesday so we went back to dr and did another blood test.  her white blood counts had dropped significantly from time at the ER, so we weren't sure she really needed the medsfriday.  unfortunatly, she kep running a high temp all week (highest was 103 wed night), so we went back to the dr on thursday..we did another blood test and the white blood cells were back up, so something was going on.  we agreed upon a shot of penicillin and ditched the oral antibiotic.  apparently the shot does not have the same stomach side effects since it does not go thru the GI track.  she actually played a little bit that evening, which was a great b-day present for me! she was still not feeling great on friday, but has not run a fever in over 48 hrs now, so we are on the right track.  her appetite was much improved the last few days and the diarrhea is subsiding.  i was mixing pedialyte in the formula to ensure she does not get dehydrated again from the diarrhea.  she took great naps today, so we're hoping for a good night.  it's been a long week but we're thankful she's getting better!  hopefully it will be atleast a few months before she gets sick again!!!

2 new milestones

well, we made it through 2 weeks of daycare!  haley is still not sleeping well there at all - we're lucky if she gets 2 hours of sleep total for the day (she used to nap 4-5 hrs a day at home).  so, we've been putting her to bed early and trying to let her catch up over the weekends.  she's still fighting a cold, so that is not helping.  hopefully she will be back to 100% by the end of next week! 

i'm leaving very early monday morning for my first biz trip to new jersey.  i will be gone for 3 nights, and there's no doubt that i will miss that little squirt while i'm away.  so, trey will get to do everything by himself!

we had 2 new milestones this week: 
the first milestone is that a tooth broke thru her gums!  she's been drooling like a faucet lately and i finally felt a tooth on the bottom center today, april 16.  i have seen it too, but it's pretty hard to get her to move her tongue so trey has not seen it yet.  and no picture of it either!

the other milestone is that she slept on her tummy for the first time on april 12!   i was actually really surprised when i went to get her out of bed.  she was OUT.  the door hit the wall when i came back up with my camera and i took 2 pics with flashes and she didn't even budge!  she has not slept on her tummy since (yet), but she's been turning sideways in the crib a lot lately, even when she's on her back.

summer time!

even thougth it can still drop to the 30s and 40s in the morning, we are gearing up for summer!  we bought a pink plastic barbie swimming pool, so naturally i had to get a few swimsuits so we are ready once it's warm enough. 

i bought 18 month size, just to be on the safe side.  the bikini is too big, but the one piece is a pretty good fit, especially when she stands up.  which one do you like better?

first week of daycare & work & first cold...

so, i officially went back to work on April 6, after 6.5 months off!  i can't believe how fast half of a year went.  i was given some great advice to start work on wednesday, but take haley to daycare on monday for half day and tuesday for 3/4 day, so we both could "practice" our morning routine and she could ease into daycare a little bit.  i'm so glad i listened!

last week was pretty rough.  leaving haley for the first time was hard and i admit that i did shed some tears on monday.   i am glad that i didn't start work the same day as haley started daycare b/c i would have been a mess at the office. 
but after the first day it was much better so no more tears for me.  and unfortunately  haley caught a cold on wednesday, which meant that i caught it on thursday and we hope that trey does not catch it!  with her drooling SO much now and grabbing everything to put in her mouth, it's impossible not to get her germs.  she did not take good naps all week at daycare, except finally on friday.  she slept great all weekend, and seems to be feeling better. 

she also came home with a yucky diaper rash so we've been letting her 'air it out' as much as possible this weekend.  ;-)   here's a little photo of her naked bootie!

6 month photos

haley got a lot of new clothes from family members, so we decided to do a photo shoot to showcase them! 
it was pretty spontaneous, so the background is missing in some angles, and wrinkled b/c it was not ironed, but i am still learning!!  lessons learned for next time!  ;-) 

she did great changing in and out of the clothes, for most of the outfits.  however it seemed she was happiest when i was taking the pics of her in just a diaper!  i took around 500 photos, so have narrowed it down to the best 40.  she will be the cutest kid at daycare, for sure!  unfortunately i did not get to take pics of all the outfits, but hopefully will get to the rest soon.

this raincoat is way too big now, but will be adorable once she is big enough!
